Do you fear the darkness? Do you fear the pain and terror within?
It wasn’t my fault. I didn’t mean to look for things I wasn’t supposed to. I didn’t mean for death to come after me. I really didn’t. But it still happened.
I’m Zoran, and my name is the only thing I remember about myself; not why I woke up in a forest, not why I taste blood in my mouth, and certainly not why I see weird screens in front of me. Ever since I first woke, all I wanted to do was find out who I really was. But what I didn’t expect was for my search to spark something that was never meant to happen.
It has started now. I can see it. Cities will burn and towers will fall. Chaos will descend the heavens and ravage the earth. The darkness is coming, and the world will tremble in its wake.

Oh geez man this narrator butchered this book….

I’m not so sure it was the narrator he did a great job on the Intergalactic Wizard Scout series. I think the issue was with all the “what” moments I felt like punching him in the face every time. To be fair though if you accept the premise that he’s lost his memory then it’s very reasonable for the mc to react that way. Overall the story is good the passing is fast but steady. For an average length book it felt much longer and not in a bad way. Look forward to the rest of the story.

every time i come to the lit rpg section, every new book 1 in a series is literally a mine field. After listening to so many, SO MANY. reading isekai (other world) manga/light novels. I don’t even know why I listen to this genre anymore, i’ve pummeled it to the ground at this point. But anyway, every book 1 could be a land mine of cringe. Aerepairer describes one such part as an example for several books. Authors who hit EVERY cliche, pointing out the obvious, or is badly written. Because of a certain series *cough* soulstone online, I’ve learned that they’ll audiobookify just about anything to fill a lit rpg quota per month. Anyway, I actually haven’t listened to this book yet, i’m just rambling. but my god, every batch of books theres one that makes me roll on the floor yelling “JESUS CHRIST JUST STOP” every couple of minutes.

ignore my bad use of literally

Lol I do agree that the stories are for the most part the same. But that’s expected I think that’s what drew me the fact that 2 people can play the same game and have two completely different experiences. As a matter of fact there’s a couple of series here that actually are different people playing the same game like awaken online and I can’t think of the other but you get my drift. Also I read sci-fi and fantasy in between litrpg so maybe that’s why I don’t let it get to me hope you keep reviewing these though it’s good to get other p.o.v.

I’m sorry but this is an extremely weak piece of writing. The narrator doesn’t help it wither. It is repetitive to the point of nausea.
Every time the MC says “I grinned” it made me want to punch both the author and narrator. Also, this book does that bad Litrpg thing where it literally reads pages of stats at you. Even the narrator was tired of it in the second half because he was clearly reading them at a much faster rate.
There is never any tension because as in most litrpg, the Mc is OP enough that he has no strenuous opposition.
