As it turns out, magic is strictly regulated for reasons that go far beyond politics. Flares aren’t the only danger in this world; the demon Renan encountered at the airship was just one of many Void-spawns, creatures drawn to magic users. This is why every Mage must be accounted for—their very existence poses a threat to all.

Renan and Yana must tread carefully, especially as the lure of adventure proves too strong to resist. When an opportunity arises to explore another pre-Cataclysm ruin, they can’t say no.
