Better than his order books but still bad. C-. A lot of cringe lines and way too many references to contemporary media. We thought it was okay when Ready player one came out but it’s not cute now.

Not sure if I agree I think they are embracing gamer mentality. Sometimes I get frustrated at it too but then I think back to all my gamer friends and realize that it’s more normal. His character in other works are similar so it doesn’t bother me. I don’t really expect masterworks of literature in litrpg books holding them to that standard is wrong imo. Story wise I’m intrigued by the whole game in the real world aspect of it all I wish I had some of those skills in college miself.
