I sacrificed everything for my family. It wasn’t enough. I lost my mother, and now I’m about to lose my brother. I’ve got only one thing left to gamble: my life. Which is why I’m willing to play Euphoria Online in Death March mode.
If I survive six months in-game against a lethal array of wyverns, ogres, necromancers, and more, I’ll earn my brother a pardon.
If I lose? Well. I’m done with losing.

Ok I liked the book fine but the premise of how he gets in the game is stupid. I kept hoping once he saw he was being maneuvered he would go his own way but no. But whatever hopefully it pays dividends in the next books. One thing I cant get past and I know its dumb but anyone else see how the math doesn’t work out with the time dilation it’s like waaaaay off. The final battle were clutch though props for not being quick and easy.

books 1-3 are enjoyable and i listened to them all the way through and the narrator is phenomenal. It might be just me messing up the files since i went from iphone itunes to android window media player (a bit more clunky) but I feel like the first 2 books are missing a chapter at the end because it just ends abruptly and the next book starts as if I missed a short event that happened.
Anyways, the story was interesting and the protagonist really struggles in an unusual circumstance to progress.
An underlying mystery and a satisfying progression. At the end of book 3 I was like “WHAT” and came to search for book 4. I assume there will be book 4 but if it ended on book 3 then it would be very symbolic and edgy and leave a bigger impact.

the narrator is indeed very intense but it made me get into it more. I don’t mind the passion he puts into the voices, it sucked me in. I went from him to another book and there was no comparison to the point where it was unfair to the other voice actor.
