Okay, I like the idea but, maybe it’s just me but, the voice artist is a bit lacking.
Then again, I won’t complain much and, think he’ll get better as the series progresses.
Let me know what you all think of it.

The audio feels like an audio cassette rip. I used to listen to these just fine but I guess I’ve been spoiled 🤣

lol. That’s why it sounded so familiar. Cassettes use to be my way to listen to the books as well (along with records and, a select few on 8 track’s).
I agree, it sounds off…not bad…just off since we are use to a different quality of sound. Maybe a choice by the author? It certainly stands out in my mind.

WTF is this? MC’s complete world view is through software development. You don’t die, you get “uninstalled”. His helper mentions people have a hard time getting over having no hands. MC calls that single comment a “design brief”. MC asks his helper if anyone will miss him. He has no emotion. “Names are handles. Handles are how you move things.” No, you don’t use names to move things.
I would bet money this is AI generated. Reviews suggest the same thing. This author has a bunch of other harm series all with AI complaints against them (he left in the AI prompts) and Goodreads ratings in the threes. If you know how Goodreads ratings work (drop the 4 and just look at the decimal for the true rating), that’s a negative rating.
DNF at 40 minutes at the end of day 1 when the MC “idled processes” instead of sleeping after the light “dome dimmed gracefully … the way a room does when you find the switch someone hid behind the cabinets.” The book is full of BS comparisons like that. When he ‘wakes up’ feeling fully charged, his “phone’s power” is at 12% meaning his core’s power is at 12% despite feeling full (phone never mentioned again nor beforehand). Yet at the start of the book (40 minutes ago) he’s powered by mana and was 30% full when he went to sleep so should have been around 46% when he woke up. A couple sentences later it’s stated he’s at 30% mana (15/50). Ugh! Yes, this very much is AI slop.
Lets not forget that at the start of day 2 the MC is literally weeks ahead of all other cores because he’s special because he thinks like a programmer and apparently everyone else stuffed into a core either goes crazy and dies or expands randomly without a plan. So far he’s only spent 15 mana to build a 5×5 room. He goes from that to gaining a family within 5 days? No fucking way.
I really should have paused the book when I started writing this. I keep hearing more things to complain about. …Oh WTF now? We get a 4th ‘end of day one’ mana report and it has different values from the previous three reports! Book deleted. Remaining sanity saved.
