The narrator sounds retarded.

So, the protagonist can apparently shift between realms. Andrew Klavan has written a similar trilogy called “Another Kingdom.” In “Another Kingdom,” the protagonist at times finds himself unwillingly transported to another realm, when he steps through doorways turned into portals that only he sees. Whenever he or his conscience is transported to the other realm, time stops for him in our world and he becomes an adventurer in a realm of knights and magic; and when he returns to this realm, time resumes from when he entered the portal. He can use this to delay dealing with events in our world, as he thinks about what to do in the other realm, but he can’t use his ability to stop actions that are currently taking place, or use it to prevent incidents that are destined to happen.

… “Another Kingdom” is narrated by Michael Knowles. He does a good job, and his reading/performance is dynamic, at a good tempo. Knowles is a good narrator/voice actor, and I’ve enjoyed his narration over lots of other narrators who read slowly and aren’t very dynamic.

The narrator, Wayne Mitchell, does a lot better job at voice acting and accents than some other voice actors, e.g. Wayne Kelly in “I Summoned My What?!”
